Day 27: How to use your channels to make podcast partnerships more valuable

Today's Action

Use your newsletter, social channels, and community to make every partnership more valuable.

When we reach out to other podcasts or newsletter for cross promotion, we often trade based on impressions, downloads, or subscriber numbers. But what happens if your overall numbers are lower than the other show?

Did you know: you can use your newsletter, social, and community channels to sweeten the deal for partners, sponsors... anyone interested in collaborating with you.

It's true!

Suggestions for Implementation

Once you've found potential collaborators and sent them your initial pitch, you're onto the negotiation stage.

  • It's about the combo. Instead of offering only a podcast ad, package a host-read with a newsletter mention. Add social media impressions to the mix.
  • Loop the community in. Your community is a unique space for you to show off your partner / sponsor. Whether you opt for a native insertion or one that reads more like an ad, that’s added value for your partner, and you can set it all up on beehiiv.
    • You may notice that I try to share (naturally) about some of our sponsors / partners in the 30-Day Slack channel
  • Create a repeatable newsletter section. Add a small “Worth Your Time,” “Partner Spotlight,” or “What We’re Listening To” section where relevant recommendations can live naturally.
  • Make sharing easy for your partner. Send them prewritten copy, artwork, your preferred links, and a short explanation of your audience.
  • Track and report the results. Use unique links and share clicks, signups, or other results afterward.
    • If you want to explore newsletter sponsorships beyond your own direct outreach, take a look at the beehiiv Ad Network.

If you're thinking of starting a newsletter or a community for your podcast, beehiiv makes it super easy. I've been on beehiiv for 5+ years with my podcast recommendation newsletter.
