Welcome to Day 22

📣 Calling all niche podcasters! Join us on July 28th at 11 AM ET (online) for The Marketing Playbook for Niche Podcasts.

Today's Tip

Create a content flywheel around your podcast.

A useful flywheel means one episode generates additional ideas, conversations, audience touch points, and revenue opportunities... and then feeds all of it back into future episodes.

Choose a recent episode and map out:
1 episode → 3 supporting pieces of content → 1 audience action → 1 future episode idea

Suggestions for Implementation

  • Choose the job of each platform. Your podcast might deliver the full conversation, your newsletter might explain the biggest takeaway, LinkedIn might call for debate, Instagram might offer a visual.
  • Connect your podcast, newsletter, and website. beehiiv’s podcast tools let you host and distribute episodes, create transcripts, publish episode webpages, notify newsletter subscribers, and track engagement in one ecosystem.
  • Identify flywheel components moments while outlining or editing. This is much easier than reopening the finished episode and scrambling.
  • One episode --> several formats. Try an article, short video, quote graphic, carousel, resource list, or behind-the-scenes. Choose the formats that suit the material instead of forcing each episode into the same template.
  • Make the next steps clear. A social post sends people to the episode. The episode invites listeners to the newsletter. The newsletter invites a reply. That's the flywheel.
  • Deliver value in and of itself. We want all of the content pieces to work together and to point to each other, BUT: make sure that's not the only thing they're doing. They should be able to stand on their own as valuable assets.
  • Package the entire flywheel for sponsors. Podcast downloads are only one part of what you can sell. More on that here.
  • Let your audience power the next go-round. Turn replies, comments, survey responses, listener questions, and more into future episodes.
