Day 2: It's Podcast Trailer Time 🛻

Welcome to Day 2

How are we doin, Challengers? ICYMI: the first tip from Day 1!

Join us on Tuesday, July 7th at 12 PM ET for a virtual Meet & Greet with fellow Challengers. Meet other podcasters, ask questions, share best practices, just schmooze. See you there!

Today's Idea

You need a trailer for your podcast.

A trailer is a shorter snippet that teases, introduces, or primes a potential listener (or viewer) for what’s to come.

There are a number craft, marketing, and platform-specific reasons to make a trailer. I'll expand on those and share some FAQ here.

But for now, let's get to the...

Suggestions for Implementation

If you don't have a trailer yet, start very simple by answering these questions into a mic:

Who are you? What's the name of the show? What's it about? Who is it for? Why are you the right person to be making it? When can people expect the show?

If you're wondering whether your trailer is working, post a link to it in Slack (look for today's thread) to set up a trailer audit swap with a fellow Challenger.

Keep in Mind

  • You can always update your trailer. Nothing is set in stone.
  • Remove the DAI markers before hitting publish (we don't need to hear ads in your short teaser).
  • Make sure to SAY YOUR NAME and the NAME OF THE SHOW. You'd be surprised, but many people forget this.
  • Make sure your music / SFX isn't too loud or distracting.
  • More best practices can be found here.
