It's International Podcast Day!
Did you know that September 30th is Int'l Podcast Day? But where did this holiday come from? Good question...
Father and son duo Steve and Dave Lee founded IPD in 2014. More info from their website:
International Podcast Day is a celebration of the power of podcasts! It’s a great opportunity to connect with fellow podcasters, podcast listeners, podcast enthusiasts, and leaders in the podcasting industry. Help spread the word by telling your friends, sharing the celebration on your podcasts and social media feeds, and using #InternationalPodcastDay.
What are YOU doing to celebrate? Here's how I'm marking the occasion:
- On Slack, I asked WID Labs community members to share their unique celebration ideas
- On Threads, I asked podcasters to share a bit about their shows in hopes of finding more listeners
- Over at EarBuds, my podcast newsletter, I've shared a list of 30+ shows, submitted by members of The Podcast Academy.
Tools we're testing
I love keeping up with the latest and greatest in podcast tech tools and creator-focused sites. Here's what I've got this time around:
SureTake is a browser-based remote recording platform built to do one thing well, record reliably.
Tuesday, October 20th at 3 PM ET — join us for a live walkthrough of SureTake and a discussion on remote recording best practices. RSVP free here→
If you're a podcaster interested in newslettering, this is the leading community newsletter for email senders looking to win at email. Subscribe here→
Bonus: the author of this newsletter (Des Brown) is also my co-instructor for this newsletter course we're teaching.
Take this quiz→ to find out where to focus, what to try next, and how your podcast can turn its audience (or its growth budget) into opportunity.
Setting up a newsletter to go alongside your podcast? Use these templates as a starting point. Make sure to customize and personalize! More templates get added as we build them through Owned, our newsletter course.
